A new year means a new crop of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. In 2016, Mercedes-Benz will launch a new generation of exciting models in the U.S.

Each Mercedes-Benz will sport fresh designs, feature ground-breaking technology and deliver on the company’s promise of “The best or nothing.”

Let’s take a closer look at what’s to come in 2016:

S-Class Cabriolet

This sleek drop-top is the fourth variant of Mercedes-Benz’ S-Class family of vehicles available in the US. It will be the first four-seater convertible from Mercedes-Benz since 1971. And a few things have changed since then, to say the least.

The S-Class Cabriolet sports an evocative design and features many cutting-edge technologies, including state-of-the-art THERMOTRONIC climate control system that keeps you cool or warm inside the vehicle no matter if the top is open or closed. You won’t have to give up comfort for a convertible with the S-Class Cabriolet. The enhanced wind protection and climate control system uses 12 sensors and 18 actuators to automatically adjust the cabin’s temperature. Special AIRSCARF® neck heating keeps you warm even in cooler temperatures.

The S 550 Cabriolet includes a 4.7-liter V-8 biturbo engine. The AMG® version, the S 634MATIC®,  steps it up a notch with a 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine able to hit 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, all while delivering 577 horsepower and torque up to 664 pounds/ft.

The Cabriolet also is available with new assistance systems that make driving more comfortable and safe:

  • PRESAFE® brake with pedestrian detection
  • DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist
  • Brake Assist BAS® PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist
  • Active Lane Keeping Assist
  • Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and Night View Assist® Plus

If the vehicle senses that it is danger of rolling over, the airbag control unit goes to work quickly to protect the occupants. For the first time in a Mercedes-Benz, roll bars will be extended not by spring force, but by pyrotechnical means, using a gas generator.

The new 2017 S-Class Cabriolet will be available in the US in summer 2016.
