AMG® stands for Aufrecht, Melcher, and Großaspach. Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher were the two engineers who founded the company in 1967, and Großaspach is Aufrecht’s birthplace in Germany. What began as a small racing engine forge has grown into Mercedes-Benz’s dedicated high-performance division, responsible for some of the most driver-focused cars on the road today.
