New Mercedes-Benz Models Rolling Out in 2016
Some of the best-selling Mercedes-Benz vehicles are the C, E and GLE models. These go-to vehicles are classically stylish and appeal to a broad range of car lovers who seek luxury, performance and cutting edge safety features.
This year several Mercedes favorites are getting a face lift.
Let’s take a look at a few of the dynamic new Mercedes-Benz models:
The All-New Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe
Mercedes-Benz is calling this mid-sized model an “SUV with the heart and soul of a sports car.” The GLE Coupe models (available as the GLE 450 AMG® Coupe and GLE 63 S Coupe) are slightly smaller, sportier SUV versions and feature a sloped, “coupe-like” body style.
The new model versions feature a stronger turbo boost with a dynamic exhaust system. The AMG® performance engine inside the GLE 450 AMG® is a 3.0-liter biturbo V-6. The engine also sports a red cover, signifying the powerful 362 horse power and 384 lb-ft of torque that it is capable of.
The Mercedes-AMG® GLE 63 features sporty AMG® performance body style as well as a handcrafted biturbo V-8. It also includes AMG® brakes, suspension, steering, 22-inch wheels and exclusive AMG® SPEEDSHIFT® transmission.
Design elements include bold coupe-ivied body style and room for five.
The redesigned Mercedes-Benz CLA
Mercedes-Benz makes a fresh design statement with this new sleek CLA. The facelifted CLA four-door Coupe, which was debuted at the New York International Auto Show, will be available at US dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Redesigned CLA models sport a new front bumper complete with stylish silver, black or chrome trim. Buyers also can choose a rear bumper option that has a panel with chrome or black trim (known as the Night Package).
Appearance changes continue with new metallic paint options. The new CLAs also offer six different wheel designs that allow buyers to complete the unique look of their vehicle. On the interior, drivers can customize the lighting of the cabin with the touch of button. The new ambient lighting system can be individualized by choosing among 12 color moods. Other interior trim updates include new seat coverings and chrome-plated controls. A slimmer freestanding 8-inch media display with a new glass cover sits at the helm of the control panel. It is freshly designed to make instrument reading and navigation much easier.
The redesigned CLA also features the latest generation of assistance and safety features, that are only now being introduced in other models. These include Active Brake Assist, that triggers autonomous braking if the threat of a collision is detected. DYNAMIC SELECT also is included. This feature allows the driver to customize the driving experience by selecting from various transmission modes.
The new Mercedes-Benz AMG® GLC 43
The always popular AMG® models are also big sellers for Mercedes-Benz. This year Mercedes-Benz has introduced the new GLC 43 and E43 performance offerings. Let’s start with the GLC 43, which also celebrated its world debut at the New York International Auto Show. The mid-size SUV model includes a 362 horsepower 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine, 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and AMG® Performance 4MATIC® all-wheel drive. All of these features are designed to deliver a Mercedes-Benz with a specific attention to sports-performance, low fuel consumption and minimal emissions.
The GLC 43 also features AMG® DYNAMIC SELECT, which allows drivers to choose from transmission modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus or Individual. The vehicle boasts a large-dimension braking system featuring interior-ventilated compound brake discs that allow the AMG® GLC 43 to brake quickly and reliably. The interior-ventilated compound brake discs decelerate the vehicle rapidly and efficiently.
The exterior displays both silver chrome and high-gloss black features. Distinctive AMG® features such a the diamond radiator grille with chrome-plated pines and sporty air intakes blend function and style.
The interior of the GLC 43 includes several specially designed details with a sporty emphasis. The vehicle features a multifunction sports steering wheel with black leather details. New sports seating with improved lateral support also ensures that the driver and passenger are comfortable even when the car reaches top speeds.
A range of optional interior features can help further customize the AMG® GLC 43. Options include performance seats, leather upholstery upgrades, carbon-fiber trim and the “Night Package” option, as well as bi-color 21-inch wheels.
The GLC coupe will go on sale at US dealerships by the end of 2016.
The new Mercedes-Benz AMG® E43
Next on the new AMG® list is the E43. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class vehicles are the larger, more powerful coupes and sedans available in various engine and body styles. With this new redesign, Mercedes-AMG® has created a high-performance variant of the redesigned E-Class. The E-Class as a whole has received a thrilling update this year. And the E43 includes plenty of special features that set it apart from the original Mercedes-Benz E-Class models.
The powerful luxury sedan features a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine that delivers 396 horsepower and 384 lbs-ft of torque — making it the most powerful version of the E-Class. The E43 also offers AMG® Performance 4MATIC® four-wheel drive and 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and AMG® AROMATIC Adaptive Sport Suspension, which allows for quick shifting and smooth driving.
The E43 is immediately recognizable as a member of the elite AMG® family of vehicles and includes distinctive AMG® style features. Large openings on the front bumper optimize air flow to the cooler, enhancing performance. The vehicle also sports a diamond grille with chromed pins and a louver in high-gloss black and AMG® lettering. The AMG® E43 comes with 19-inch five-spoke performance wheels painted in high-gloss black. At the rear are two chrome-plated quad-flow exhaust pipes that are great to look at and also responsible for delivering the iconic AMG® growl.
The interior is elegantly outfitted with MB-Tex/DINAMICA leather upholstery (with optional Nappa leather available). Leather features include red topstitching. Other sporty style features include exclusive pedals, black roof lining and red seat belts.
The Mercedes-AMG® E43 will be available for sale at US dealerships in early 2017.
